Poll question: "My feelings on the death of OBL are best summed up by....."
If you are feeling more than one, please reply to this thread with the correct answers or a different answer of your own.

(I'm curious as to whether or not the threads I see the most are indicative as to what DUers are feeling. Thanks for participating)

10. I honestly expected that this would be the most popular choice. I question whether it is not
because:

a) People are voting for which sentiment they feel strongest,
b) They didn't realize they could vote for the multi-feeling option.

Good thing I am not a real pollster! LOL It's not easy to get it right.

damn, I'm not a bloodthirsty savage who is going crazy with celebratory blood-lust!

I try and think human beings can be well, better than that.

Also, something is fishy about how this whole thing went down, anyone can see that. Does it mean I think there was a conspiracy, no, but something still stinks and I have questions, as someone who doesn't automatically accept what they are told as the gospel truth.

37. I doubt we will ever leave both places -
give up control of the #2 oil fields?, lose such strategic bases? hell no! - but I think OBL death will make it harder for them to rationalize our continued involvement.

It will be a bit sickening to see the current and future administrations tell us why our troops must remain. :puke:

One dead person means doodley squat. The same conditions which bring terrorists into the world still prevail. Deal with it.

Kill one terrorist, two pop up. Nothing related to the causes of terrorism has changed.

FREE CLUE: 'They' do not hate us 'for our freedoms,' despite the idiotic claim of Republicon propagandists. 'They' have other reasons -- and America would be wise to reckon with the real reasons.

19. Multiple and conflicting..........
......a) I hope this brings closure to those who so still need it, b) can we bring the troops home now, c) can we have our Constitution/freedoms back now, and d) other..........one man's terrorist is another man's freedom figher - we (the US) will not mourn his death, but millions around the world will. Is this the end of a dangeous extremist or the birth of a martyr? Only time will tell.

32. Solemn contentment, pride in the administration's leadership.
I would not be out there celebrating in jubliation on the streets. But nonetheless I do think this was a positive accomplishment.

A horrible man, responsible for the death of thousands, is dead. It appeared that his intention was to fight to the death and not be captured alive, and from the accounts I've heard, that is how it played out. I would have preferred capturing him alive and putting him on trial, a real trial subject to American jurisprudence, because that is what America should be all about.

Still, I just cannot find myself being jubilant at any human being's death, even a horrible one as that. So while I believe yesterday's news was welcome, it is a restrained celebration on my part.

What pleases me most is not that Bin Laden is dead, but the pride I do have in my President. It is clear from early in the presidency he made it a priority to refocus on the capture or killing of Bin Laden where the past administration had long given up. And he absolutely deserves credit for that.

54. Completely different...seething anger.
The intelligence worked, the okay given Friday from what I understand, the Navy Seals executed a plan that worked and a crazed terrorist planner and funder is removed from society. President Obama isn't strutting around with a codpiece on swaggering and bragging, but acting more like a CoC and statesman, all to be admired and respected, and I'm not sad that Bin Laden is gone.

However, I remember Dimson**, who refused to deal with it any other way besides bombing the shit out of Afghanistan, where most of the people killed or maimed by those bombs had no affiliation with Bin Ladin.

Then the lying bastard went on to lie to kick off a war in Iraq. That country had nothing to do with 9/11, but he got another war on that resulted in many unnecessary deaths of troops and Iraqi's. How many trillions spent on his warmongering? He disgraced and divided this country with his lies and approving the torturing of people. I remember Rush selling Club Gitmo t-shirts.:puke:

Trillions for his arrogance and stupidity and possible austerity for us.

Yeah, I'm still pissed.
