25. How does that work? They "abdicated" their influence..but swung an election?
Either:

a) they didn't have influence to abdicate
b) they had enough influence to get Bush elected
c) they had influence but not enough to swing the election
d) you're statement about 3rd party voters abdicating their influence by voting is full of holes

Remember Ralph Nader? There are more examples. Every vote is a voice and is an influence. You can argue the degree, but their is no abdication of influence.

45. I would still disagree. Third parties shift the debate.
And effect the respective platforms. Your obsession with 3rd parties is evidence that they have some influence. You sure think they are important enough to go on and on and on and on about them.

19. Most of the time they do. One exception I can think of was Jesse
Ventura in MN governors race. From what I read so far the liberals in Canada split their voted between two parties allowing the conservatives to take back the government. The only time it does not abdicate your vote is if and when you are absolutely sure the 3rd party candidate is going to win. That has also not happened often. Bernie Saunders comes to mind as a good example. Lieberman as a bad example.

28. I have seen a mathematical analysis that the most powerful way
to lever one's vote in national elections is to register GOP so as to be able to vote in the GOP primaries and then vote Democratic in the final election.

This was long ago as I actually used the strategy and registered GOP to vote against Saint Ronald and Bush I in the GOP primaries.

In my entire life, I have voted straight Democratic except for one Independent and one Green at the county level.

I would have a hard time justifying a vote for DiFi again. She should retire at the end of her term.

John Anderson -- my GOP primary vote -- who ended up running as an Independent in the General Election.

Still, I think about switching my registration some days, because that party nominates ever loonier candidates on a regular basis.

Edited on Tue May-03-11 01:29 PM by Better Believe It
But, I vote anyone understanding that fact.

So, if you cast your vote for a candidate who is a socialist or independent, that had absolutely no impact on the election result.

So no person in their right mind should blame your vote for the defeat of any candidate!

It just didn't fricken matter!

Just keeping it real.

Even if there were ten thousand possible choices on a ballot, each person would vote for the perceived lesser evil.
