"That is roosevelt's war!" Yep that's the way
Republicans talked about WW II... up to two years into it. Republicans found their "love of country" only AFTER December 7th, 1941, and not in all cases. Many republicans joined the armed forces for the most cynical of reasons after the attack. They realized that those that did not AND wanted to pursue a political career after the war, NEEDED to serve.

Well... Boehner is now channeling THAT republican party. This is why they will refuse to acknowledge the SEALS for killing OBL. They would HAVE to acknowledge the Democrat in the WH. Agree or disagree with the actual SEAL raid... but what we are seeing with the Republicans it is quite fascinating in my mind.

For a little window into that... well there is a piece of Dialogue in "Flags of my Fathers" that actually touched on that. Of course there IS an actual John Wayne movie done during the War that had that as part of the plot line...

But this is damn fascinating...

What did Santayana write about history? I forget... and in this case it might be damn relevant.
