Alston rejects tea party meeting (NC)
SNIP - GREENSBORO — At Thursday’s public hearing on the county budget a number of familiar faces from arts and social programs showed up, as they do every year, to petition the Guilford County Board of Commissioners to preserve their funding. But a new element made the biggest stir — a conservative group that will be holding its own event to talk about how to dramatically slash the budget.

Conservatives for Guilford County, a tea-party-affiliated group, will hold its presentation in the commissioners’ own chamber on May 16 — and a majority of the commissioners have agreed to attend.

But Alston said he didn’t consider the group to be informed about county finances and said their suggestions — which he called “irresponsible” and “slash and burn” — don’t interest him. He also said the group isn’t racially diverse, claiming he had yet to see a black member of the group.

“Therefore, my constituents are left out,” Alston said.

THANK YOU, MR. ALSTON :headbang:

1. Stay classy, teabaggers. Here's what they do:
Alston has made no bones about his feelings about the group since they began attending commissioners’ meetings last year. He has chided the group for applauding one another when they make speeches during the public comments and for booing and making derisive noises when political opponents speak.

4. A-men
some of the comments on that story are gross, although I've seen worse.
