Look at the OP. Self-deleted and locked by member.

Over 100 responses and you can't read the OP anymore.

1. All the comments are there
If you want to take the time you can probably piece it together.

2. Skinner laid this out some time ago.
When you get an edit request, you can choose to have the OP locked instead of editing it, iirc.

6. So instead of correcting it
you would lock it?

5. It's the flip side of the 'Edit Requested' feature
When the mods decide a post is over-the-top, but not to the point of being lockable/deletable, it gets temporarily locked so the OP can edit it. The OP has the option then of making changes, or just pulling the plug...

8. Doesn't have to be "over the top" ... more likely copyright violations
Perhaps the poster didn't want to go back and cut/paste to meet the 3-4 (max) paragraph requirement.

10. I didn't realize that - thought it was just minor violations in general
Thanks for the correction!

9. I think edit requests are only used for copyright violations
for now, anyway.

15. That's exactly it.
If it's a copyright violation (which we've been pretty careful about), the member has the choice to edit ot not, and if s/he doesn't, it's locked. :hi:

12. Mods were only using it for copyright violations

DSB may have chose to not repost, so it was deleted. It's the first time I've seen anything deleted.

13. Hmmmm....we're in a whole heap-o trouble folks.......
It's one thing to be able to delete or modify a post within an hour of posting.....that's human.

I don't think this is a 'good' thing....making the OP (upon which over 100 ppl have felt strongly enough to comment and MANY more have READ) DISAPPEAR.

no..not good.
