Is Obama wrong to continue to protect George W. Bush while extrajudicially killing other criminals?

<edit>

We might ask ourselves how we would be reacting if Iraqi commandos landed at George W. Bush’s compound, assassinated him, and dumped his body in the Atlantic. Uncontroversially, his crimes vastly exceed bin Laden’s, and he is not a “suspect” but uncontroversially the “decider” who gave the orders to commit the “supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole” (quoting the Nuremberg Tribunal) for which Nazi criminals were hanged: the hundreds of thousands of deaths, millions of refugees, destruction of much of the country, the bitter sectarian conflict that has now spread to the rest of the region.

6. I would think that could show consistency as well.
There are all sorts of inconsistent moves. For example, Manning's treatment and that of Scooter Libby. Inconsistency is the consistency with common purpose.

15. I guess Chomsky's going to have to send some drones out to kill innocents or maybe
violate some norms of international law. Then maybe he'll have some credibility around here.

14. Perhaps another 10-D chess move...
No, I'm not being sarcastic; Obama can and has pulled 'em off. Bush is essentially in prison right now; pretty much every other country in the world would have him arrested, and in the US he really can't go out in public. And all without so much as a wink from President Obama.

As much as I would like to see the fucker get what's coming to him, a war crimes trial would be a huge divisive distraction for the country and political suicide for the Dems. It would be Watergate, the OJ trial and the opening of Al Capone's Vault and rolled into one; FOX would have to light up two more channels ultimately completing their plans to dominate the world with a three-ring propaganda circus.

I can be happy with W more or less functionally under house arrest and let history be his warden.

16. Cute delusion but clearly false. The fucker was just on a book tour.
He is nothing like effectively in prison or under house arrest. He lives like a king, knows no want, has freedom of movement at least in the United States, and continues to have considerable influence.

He is no more under house arrest than Clinton, Poppy, or Carter. It is a falsehood meant to soothe the dissonance from allowing a first magnitude and historical level criminal to go unpunished and actually rewarded for his wickedness.
