Bryan Stow Update: Beaten Giants Fan Takes a Turn for the Worse
Last week SF Weekly gave you the good news that Bryan Stow, the Giants fan who was badly beaten, had been taken out of a coma; doctors were optimistic that he could relocate to a hospital near his home in the Bay Area.

But now we have to report more sad news. Doctors in Los Angeles now say that Stow has not been responding as he should, and he must have more surgery to drain the fluid that has been causing his brain to swell.

According to his family, who posted the news on his Web site, www.support4bryanstow.com, a shunt needs to be put into his cranium at the center of his brain and "will be snaked down through his stomach to drain."

1. This story just breaks my heart...
A random, thoughtless, horrifying act of violence has caused this completely innocent man to become a victim.

I really hope they catch the men who did this.

:(

10. I hear ya, as a die-hard LA fan this just sickens me.
I thought we were better than this, and I mean it's not just the Dodgers but this goes for all LA area teams (Lakers, Angels, USC, UCLA, Clippers, Galaxy, Chivas, Ducks, Kings, you name it), and I just, you know feel for this guy, it sucks that he has to go through this because he wore the wrong uniform.

And it sucks that it's taking this to clean up Dodgers Stadium. I went to a Dodgers - Angels game a couple years ago, and I was with my dad's friend who was out visiting from Kentucky, and he said he was scared for his life using the restroom. This was one regular-season game! :yoiks:

3. horrible, something that never should have happened
really, how much of a shitty asshole do you have to be to think it's ok to beat up someone and try to kill them because they are a fan of another sports team.

4. Awful.
My kid is going to a giants game in another city soon. One would hope that the opposing team's supporters aren't violent jerks. In this case, it's an 11 year old kid. We shouldn't have to worry about opposing team supporters beating the crap out of anyone.

7. You won't have to worry

This was one incident and it's certainly not something about the Giants specifically.

Try supporting an opposing team in a European soccer stadium, then they'll be problem.

What city, by the by?
