Hasidic Paper Photoshops Hillary Clinton and Audrey Tomason out of Sit Room Photo

We write about Photoshop ridiculousness all the time, but this instance is a little different. A orthodox Hasidic newspaper called Der Tzitung has wiped Secy. of State Hillary Clinton and Counterterrorism Director Audrey Tomason out of the now-famous photo of US government officials watching the raid on Osama bin Laden’s Pakistani compound, following its editorial policy never to print pictures of women.

Jezebel reports that Der Tzitung doesn’t put pictures of ladies in its pages because they could be considered sexually suggestive. But we don’t know what could be less sexy than the concern on the face of a cabinet member watching one of the most important military maneuvers in recent history go down live. Still, that consideration didn’t occur to the photo editors at Der Tzitung, who smudged Clinton right out of the history books.

We guess to be completely fair, we can’t say that we’ve read the coordinating story, so we don’t know if there’s a disclaimer in there that says, “This photo has been altered to fit our editorial policy by removing Hillary Clinton and Audrey Tomason in the original photo.” But even it did, it’d still be a crap move, and certainly more offensive than any hip augmentation or leg slimming on a fashion model that we’ve ever seen.

Religious patriarchs would be thrilled if the female half of the human race could simply be dispensed with, rounded up and slaughtered.

Since that's impractical since we're the way the species continues, they try to make us invisible by shrouding us in public, by erasing us from history, by erasing us from pictures in the newspaper.

But there are so many examples where they do not.

This fundy newspaper erasing Hillary and the other woman demonstrates their corrupt, misogynistic mentality again.

For those who erased these two women from the picture, women are not supposed to be players, not supposed to be equals, are not supposed to be powerful. It's the same as those who want to erase women from society by shrouding them in ghost wraps.

It's sick patriarchal bullshit. All of it.

I knew manymuslim nations did, but Israel too? Geesh.

This is about one, smallish, self-isolated inbred sect of Judaism on its far-right fringes.

I would think that the papers/magazines/teevee reports/etc. will ensure those women's place in history. I betcha there will be books written, and many will likely include the original photo.

paper that appeals to only a small group of people will not affect anything.

Even now, a google search of the name of the paper shows several pages of articles telling how that paper has modified the original photo.

idiots like these ultra-orthodox Jews, I'm reminded of how exactly this sort of thing was done throughout the Soviet era. Whenever some former political big-wig fell out of favor, he'd be disappeared from official photographs. Someone published an entire book on this not too long ago, I believe.

And yeah, I'd be inclined to vote for a woman, any woman, for president just to see how these idiots would handle it.
