Even during these economic times I bet I could get a pretty damn good job with that card. Just about anywhere in America that card is like gold. Not the card that Ford gave me at the completion of my apprenticeship. That one is worthless. But the UAW/Ford Journeyman card signed by who was the head of the Department of Labor at that time and with my picture on it opens doors. I have tried it while on vacation to other parts of the country and it works.

Pretty sure I could still go to just about any state and get a job with that card if I ever needed to. That card gets you top money too. As a new hire.

This isn't mine but here is what one looks like:

1. Mr. Brickbat had the same experience when he was working on the east coast. All he had to do was say
he had some union training in Minnesota and he was instantly hired. (This was in construction.) Businesses love educated, safe workers -- or at least they used to.

2. Most businesses, unless they have plants in the third world, then cheap is king
I lost my card years and years ago when I left it in an old wallet and that wallet got tossed. Nah, I'm never going to heed that again. Wrong.

4. The Master Identification Card should still be on file with the International Union
Bet you could get yours replaced without too much hassle. I would start with my Local Union President.

3. I was a Sheet Metal Workers UNION apprentice, then quit to go to college
Got the degree, then went back to apprentice training. Now I'm a WELL-retired UNION Sheet Metal Worker........ BEST THING I EVER DID!
