Business community won big in Florida Legislature — many others lost

TALLAHASSEE — Florida's Republican-led Legislature wrapped up a 2011 lawmaking session Saturday that was historic in scope.

Florida's business community scored victories on issues that were years in the making. Regulations, programs and entire state agencies built up over decades were demolished, disarmed or defunded. It will take a long time to sort out the long-term economic gains or environmental damage that supporters and critics have predicted.

But like every year, the process produced its share of winners and losers.

While the list is vast, here are some of the prime figures — the players and those who were played — who locked up bragging rights or endured significant setbacks this session:
