Ohio Health Care Association, Kasich feud over proposed cut to nursing homes
Monday, May 9, 2011 06:20 PM

MASON, Ohio -- The state's nursing home lobby has its television commercial.

Gov. John Kasich has the bully pulpit.

The influential Ohio Health Care Association declared war on Kasich's proposed $427 million cut to nursing homes with another television commercial Friday; the governor returned fire today speaking to politicians and business professionals north of Cincinnati.

Kasich pulled no punches, rattling off campaign contributions he said were made by those affiliated with nursing homes and said "the process of the nursing homes winning every battle and budget fight in the name of special interests must stop.

"In response to the House's vote, the Ohio Health Care Association aired an ad that begins with an elderly woman in a bed and a picture of Gov. John Kasich in the foreground. It ends with condemnation of the "Kasich cuts," a hand pulling a plug out of the wall, a flat-lined EKG, and a message to call your state senator "before it's too late."
