Nine of Out Ten Climate Denying Scientists Have Ties to Exxon Mobil Money
If you spend any time at all browsing comments on articles about climate change (and bless you if you've manage to avoid it), you've likely read the same handful of long-debunked arguments against the reality of anthropogenic global warming (or "man-made" global warming). Recently, you've also almost definitely seen links to this website—"900+ Peer-Reviewed Papers Supporting Skepticism of "Man-Made" Global Warming (AGW) Alarm"—created by the Global Warming Policy Foundation.

The problem is, of the top ten contributors of articles to that list, nine are financially linked to Exxon Mobil. Carbon Brief, which examined the list in detail, explains:

Once you crunch the numbers, however, you find a good proportion of this new list is made up of a small network of individuals who co-author papers and share funding ties to the oil industry. There are numerous other names on the list with links to oil-industry funded climate sceptic think-tanks, including more from the International Policy Network (IPN) and the Marshall Institute.

Compiling these lists is dramatically different to the process of producing IPCC reports, which reference thousands of scientific papers. The reports are thoroughly reviewed to make sure that the scientific work included is relevant and diverse.

1. Wonder if it's the same ratio for corrupt politicians?
Supreme Court runs about 5-4.

4. Global Warming had an original 50 year delay before we felt effects ... during which
time the oil industry -- prominently ExxonMobil -- were able to lie to the public,

distort information, push disinformation -- and buy scientists and PR -- like

on the Op-Ed Page of the NY Times!!

A few years ago, The Royal Academy of Science finally called ExxonMobil on it and

demanded they stop lying to the public!!

They're still trying, however -- remember the recent e-mail "scandal" fearing the

"trick" -- you know how many Americans beleived that?

IMO, Elites are cashing in all the chips and taking control of as much as they can

before the public figures out all of this!!

Capialism is not only insane it is absolutely suicidal!!

Exploiting Nature may be profitable for the few, but it's a war on ourselves because

we are part of nature -- !!

6. Speaking of the recent e-mail "scandal"
University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit was going after Shell Oil money.

Mike
Had a very good meeting with Shell yesterday. Only a minor part of the
agenda, but I expect they will accept an invitation to act as a strategic
partner and will contribute to a studentship fund though under certain
conditions. I now have to wait for the top-level soundings at their end
after the meeting to result in a response. We, however, have to discuss
asap what a strategic partnership means, what a studentship fund is, etc,
etc. By email? In person?
I hear that Shell's name came up at the TC meeting. I'm ccing this to Tim
who I think was involved in that discussion so all concerned know not to
make an independent approach at this stage without consulting me!
I'm talking to Shell International's climate change team but this approach
will do equally for the new foundation as it's only one step or so off
Shell's equivalent of a board level. I do know a little about the Fdn and
what kind of projects they are looking for. It could be relevant for the
new building, incidentally, though opinions are mixed as to whether it's
within the remit.
Regards
Mick

7. Pitiful .... evidently very little honor/ethics in science -- !!
And, just as an aside, every time we call this catastrophe "climate change"

we're doing Frank Luntz -- the notorious rightwing GOP propagandist a favor --

he suggested to Bush in 2002 that the name be changed!

Global Warming is about HEAT -- heating up the atmosphere creates chaotic weather.

Simple to understand when people aren't trying to confuse the public!!
