Photo of pat-down of baby at KCI goes worldwide

The Rev. Jacob Jester wasn’t trying to start anything.

But when he saw security screeners at Kansas City International Airport patting down a baby — a baby — he took a picture. And then he shared that picture on Twitter.

It went viral, and voila: Jester’s snapshot is the flashpoint of the day in the debate over who should be considered a threat to the flying public.

Not what he intended, Jester said Tuesday, after the image had been picked up by The Drudge Report and the Daily Mail in London, among others, and viewed nearly 300,000 times

1. I wonder if this will be another 60/40 thread.
Hmmm?!

I would say that the TSA has crossed the line, but that line was crossed many moons ago. Just disgusting. :puke:

13. Oh, they're all smiles
But I wonder if the mom is as happy as they are about the situation. Hard to tell from the photo.

9. Oh yes, we've heard of them, endlessly, from war and fearmongers
who have 'security' apparatus they want to profit from.

Chertoff, Giuliani, Bush, Cheney. What is ironic that these are the fearmongers who claim to be experts on 'security', but ALL of them failed to protect this country when they were in a position to do.

Giuliani refused to take the threat of terror in NYC seriously when he was mayor of that city, claiming it was the 'safest city in the world' and people should not be deterred from coming to spend money there by silly terror talk.

Chertoff failed to protect NOLA, was MIA as we lost a major city and tragically, so many of its residents.

No need to talk about the complete failure of the other two on whose watch the worst terror attace occurred.

Yet both Chertoff and Giuliani are now in the 'security business'.

Sometimes I feel like Alice in Wonderland.

11. And despite all of the pre boarding security measures...
there have been four newsworthy incidents where a person tried interfere with a flight in process in the last week or so. Two cases were drunks that tried to open a door during a flight.

14. Do they check pets too? Cause someone might use a cute kitty or small dog
to smuggle <abject methods of death and fear> onto a plane.

Not to mention a hundred other things the scanners and pat downs won't detect or stop.

18. If I wanted to bring weapons on an airplane, and the rule was they don't search babies ...
... I would hide my weapon of choice on a baby.
