Usual fundraising limits don't apply

WISCONSIN - Politicians on both sides are facing a furious electorate. Some are mad at Republicans for pushing through sweeping changes in collective bargaining. Others are angry with Democrats for fleeing the state to try to stop the measure.

Now, nine state senators are the target of recalls.

With all of the focus on campaign finance reform in the last few years, you'd think there are strict limits on political contributions. You'd be right, most of the time. But this is no ordinary time. It's the Big Money Recall and it has triggered a little-known law put on the books in 1987. Some call it one of the largest loopholes in the state's campaign finance system.

"They're going out there are raising 100s of 1,000s of dollars from a handful of donors because they don't have to adhere to the limit that usually applies," said Mike McCabe from the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign...................

1. Leave it to FOX
Some are mad at Republicans for pushing through sweeping changes in collective bargaining. Others are angry with Democrats for fleeing the state to try to stop the measure.

I saw huge numbers rally after rally denouncing the union-busting of Scott Walker. One rally had 185,000 in and around the Wisconsin capital.

But I didn't see anything about protests aimed at the absent Democrats (perhaps a TeaBagger or two?)

But leave it to FOX to report the "some" and "others" as somehow "equal in strength and numbers"

Yeah, okay, FOX...whatever :eyes:

2. Fox has become jaw dislocatingly, yawningly, boringly predictable

The surprise would be if they actually spoke a few facts every once in a while. But that's no their job.

4. Signatures verified for WI Senator Harsdorf recall election
Wisconsin’s Government Accountability Board says its staff has verified enough valid signatures to hold a recall election against state Senator Sheila Harsdorf (R-River Falls).

The GAB also said it has confirmed enough signatures to hold recall elections for three other Republican senators: Dan Kapanke of La Crosse, Randy Hopper of Fond du Lac and Luther Olsen of Ripon.
