Me thinks the republicans want Jack Davis out of the ny-26 race...
First of all, Davis doesn't help himself. WGRZ Channel 2 out of Buffalo is doing a debate this morning and Jack Davis declined to participate. They asked him outside of a fundraiser from a republican who had endorsed him about declining the debate. When asked he said it was a fixed game, paraphrasing, and didn't want any part of it.

Then they show a video from a republican volunteer at this same encounter and Davis appears to push the camera out of the way. Then the person on the other side of the camera makes all kinds of noises like davis had hit him. Corwin's campaign contacted channel 2 to ask if they had seen the video of the 'assault'. Unless moving the camera is the assault. The story from channel 2 is http://www.wgrz.com/news/article/121218/37/GOP-Alleges-Jack-Davis-Assault-Caught-On-Camera-Davis-Calls-It-a-Setup">here

According to WGRZ,
As Davis drove away, the young man yelled to 2 On Your Side's Michael Wooten and said, "Michael, did you see him hit me?"

Within about 20 minutes of the incident, 2 On Your Side received an email from the Corwin campaign, and a short time later, another Republican source contacted our newsroom. Both asked if we were aware of the "altercation."

2 On Your Side has requested from both the Corwin campaign and the Erie County GOP that they release the entire video (not just the 14-second clip) and the video from the female photographer. Neither has returned our requests. Davis' campaign asserts that this was an orchestrated setup by Republicans.

Something seems kind of fishy to me about this whole thing. the republicans want davis out of that race. The http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/05/09/974477/-NY-26:-Dem-Kathy-Hochul-in-the-lead-in-new-DK-SEIU-poll">poll numbers indicate hochul at 35%, corwin at 31% and davis at 24%. with Davis out of the race where would that 24% go?

1. Considering It's A Predominately Red District...
I have an acquaintance who lives in that part of the world...and is a rushpublican. We were chatting about this race the other day. He was leaning towards Davis (like the cranky old man routine I think) which means he's one of the people Corwin's hoping will "come home". This district hasn't had a Democrat representative in decades...once the home to Jack Kemp.

Of course the GOTB wants Davis out...and I wouldn't be surprised if they've put the screws to Davis' donors and people like my buddy in Buffalo. As he told me, Corwin's run an awful campaign and she's been labeled a "RINO"...so if Davis does drop out some may "come home" but, just like my buddy, many may just stay home instead.

Trying to get sympathy for a candidate through some kind of staged altercation is one of the oldest tricks in the book...and sometimes works. A GOTB loss in this district is sure to make national headlines and could be that proverbial "canary in a coal mine" for that corrupt party's chances next year. After last November's elections they were cock sure they'd retake the Senate and make President Obama a one termer. Today their hold on the House is starting to slip and this race may just be the first step...
