It's been one year ago today since ChickMagic passed away

I went ahead and worked a full shift today at my job, then went out to the cemetery for a little while to keep Ginny company. The stone should be in place in a couple of weeks - hopefully, her father's will be, too; he died on March 31 of this year.

There were a couple of times when I teared up a little, but it's getting a little easier to deal with. Life is slowly getting into "the new normal" now that I have smaller digs, decent television, and a loving kitty awaiting my return tonight. There's still much to do. But Ginny would want me to move forward, so that's what I'm doing.

Not quite up to dating yet, though. I reckon I should at some point, even if it doesn't turn into anything serious. Ginny would sometimes ask me what sweet young thing I'd hook up with if anything happened to her. I reassured her that we were both going to grow old together, so I never thought about it. Something tells me she's chuckling while watching me type this. That would be so her.

4. I think you'd have loved her
She just had that way with people, especially fellow Democrats. :hi:

5. It took me a minute to figure out that you were referring to Ginbarn.
On a side note, my mother died last summer after being married to my dad for 54 years. She had a long battle with dementia. She had always said that she did not want to die that way, but she also wanted my Dad to move on if she died.

My Dad just got remarried to a "girl" that he went to college with over 60 years ago. It was quite amusing to have my Dad say to me that he was "smitten" by her!

6. It's a compliment to your mother that he wants to be married.
A spouse who says "I would never get married again" is not speaking from a happy experience.

7. You make her proud. It sounds like you have a healthy attitude, strengthened by your time with Ginny...
The goods days will out number the rough ones in the future, little by little.

8. Thanks Derby
for the tribute to a great person most of us didn't get to know. The joys and sorrows are what make us human, kind of a double edged sword.
