3. I agree with the first part, but not sure about the second part. The only way that Randism will
fall by the wayside is if the economy begins to drastically improve. I don't see that happening anytime soon. We're stuck in a rut and now politicians are saying that 8% unemployment might be the new norm.

7. Problem is, our economy will only improve once the outsourcng stops.
But outsourcing is going to have a hard time stopping with our culture addicted to the philosophy Ayn Rand. Too many people think that workers deserve to get their job outsourced. Until it's their job that's outsourced.

10. I doubt Objectivism will ever go away...
It's been around since the late 1950s. Even in the "liberal" '60s and early '70s, there were still plenty of Randroids, particularly among college students of the time.

Rand and her philosophy won't go away for psychological, rather than philosophical reasons -- because it will always appeal to those of a self-centered nature (is it any coincidence that so many first join the Rand cult as teenagers?), who think of themselves as naturally superior to the "mindless herd" around them, and seek a way to rationalize (literally -- as in asserting that it's the only "rational" way to behave) their own sociopathic behavior.

6. Wasn't aware Randism was ever very prevalent except among
pretentious nuevo-cons.

Or are you grouping individualism in with randism/antisocial behavior?

8. No I am a total individualist.
One of my biggest pet issues is ending the War on Drugs. But we still are a social people, and Rand's culture of elitism and selfishness is only going to make us worse off.

has totally forgotten about it.

12. Objectivism is simply the newest form of Egoism.
Until we replace our culture of individualism and egoism with one of collectivism and mutual cooperation, we will always be fighting this battle.

13. The recent popular "fascination" with it will soon go away.
Kind of like young boys poking at road kill with a stick.

Their revulsion will soon overwhelm their curiosity and their interest will fade.

But the objectivists/sociopaths will always be with us.

14. I was tired of it in high school
Tried treading one of her books back then and couldn't get past about 20 pages.

I do enjoy watching The Fountainhead when its on TV...If only because it is such an outstandingly awful piece of cinematic hot air
