So the Obama administration has reversed its decision to permit gay marriages on military bases
Who's brilliant idea was it to move on this now? It was guaranteed to cause a firestorm, and it was guaranteed that the administration would flip out and shut it down. I said as much to a number of political contacts in town, privately, when the news broke. And lo and behold, it's shut down.

That means either this information was leaked by the Pentagon, in order to shut it down, or someone in the administration is terribly stupid if they thought this wouldn't cause a firestorm.

Now, what am I suggesting? Not that they should have decided not to permit marriages, but rather, that they put the decision off until later this year, once we have the repeal in full swing. Why trot it out now? What possible benefit was there, other than to get it shot down, which it was. - John Aravosis

8. Just like it pisses me off that birthers and the like are trying to deny credit to Obama for the
capture of Bin Laden...your post pisses me off as well.

Obama is the COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF of the armed forces. NOTHING that happens is NOT his responsibility--whether he personally handstamped it himself or not. The people he delegated to do it, did it.

You simply CANNOT have your cake and eat it to.

Either he is 100% responsible for ANY AND ALL decisions under his command...or he is not. Is that simple enough?

15. ... yes, and where are we used to seeing ad hominem attacks?

I do not deny that the ultimate responsibility lies with the Obama administration. What I was asking was how high up within his administration this decision was made. I'm sorry that it pisses some people off that I dared to ask such a question.

For the record, I think the reversal is disgraceful (just in case you're wondering where I'm coming from).
