Union bashing (paycheck deception) bill fails in MO
Schoeller: Union bill likely deadPosted on May 12, 2011 by Roseann Moring

JEFFERSON CITY — Rep. Shane Schoeller, R-Willard, said the bill that would restrict unions’ ability to contribute to political campaigns is most likely dead, he said.

The Senate version of the bill applied only to public employees. But the House expanded the bill to apply to all union members — except police and firefighters — and loaded it up with other controversial amendments.

The Senate sponsor, Jason Crowell, R-Cape Girardeau, told Schoeller that he didn’t want to work out the differences.

Schoeller said he thinks that means the bill is dead. But it’s difficult to totally predict that in the last 48 hours of session.
