Marathon is a major wholesaler of gasoline as well as operator of the Marathon and Speedway chains of gas stations.
In a motion in Franklin Circuit Court, Conway is seeking an injunction to roll wholesale prices back to April 25 levels, according to a statement from his office.
“Gas prices jumped about 30 cents overnight,” Conway said in the statement. He said the price spike violated Kentucky law because it occurred during a time of declared emergency. The average retail price in Louisville April 25 was $3.93, according to prices posted at www.courier-journal.com/gas. The average at midday Friday was $4.11.

(NY)State Attorney General Questions WNY Gas Prices
BUFFALO, NY (wned) - New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is taking a closer look at rising gasoline prices.
In Buffalo Friday, Schneiderman announced a comprehensive review of fuel prices in Western New York. According to the American Automobile Association (AAA) the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Western New York is $4.07, above the national average of $3.98 a gallon.
Schneiderman has directed his staff to compile data on the prices charged by gas retailers, as well as information on the chain of distribution, to determine the cause behind the continued increases. Schneiderman cautioned that there may not be wrongdoing behind the price spikes, but said that if there is, he will take all appropriate action.
"Drivers across Western New York have a right to know how gas prices are determined, and whether they are being taken for ride," said Attorney General Schneiderman. "I have directed my office to review the area's gas prices, and will take action against any violations that may exist. While we cannot guarantee there is wrongdoing behind the high prices, we can assure New Yorkers that we are thoroughly reviewing the matter."
