New legislation could allow Sunday sales of motorcycles
A local motorcycle dealership could benefit from a bill that would allow Sunday sales of motorcycles.
The legislation unanimously passed the Pennsylvania Senate last week and is expected to have bipartisan support in the state House.
In Pennsylvania, it's illegal for licensed dealers to sell cars or motorcycles on Sunday. Senate Bill 419, awaiting vote in the House, would repeal just the motorcycle provision of the law.
The bill was sponsored by Sen. Tommy Tomlinson, R-Bucks County. He said the measure will prevent Pennsylvania from losing business when customers head to other states to buy on Sundays. Sunday sales are permitted in Delaware, New York, New Jersey, and some counties in Maryland.
