You know what I'm fucking sick of?
aside from our country basically going in to the shitter financially, and politics in general.

I have read 4 stories today that involved violent acts against children. Over the weekend, in Maine, a young boy's body was found, dumped on the side of the road. He's believed to be between the age of 4/6 years old. No missing child reports. Not really much for clues as to who this poor child was. This pic is computer generated from the police.

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — Maine State police believe a boy’s body was left along a dirt road hours before it was discovered over the weekend.
Lt. Brian McDonough told reporters Monday that investigators believe the body was placed at the scene Saturday morning, and that the boy had died a couple of hours earlier. His body wasn’t found until about 5 p.m. Saturday.
Spokesman Steve McCausland says a full team of detectives is working to identify the boy. He says tips are coming in from across the country.
Police also are examining surveillance tape in New Hampshire and Maine as part of their investigation. The boy, believed to be between 4 and 6 years old, was 3 feet, 8 inches tall, weighed 45 pounds and had dirty blond hair and blue eyes.

everyday, (or damn near everyday) you read a story about a body found somewhere, usually on the side of the road or in the woods. Adults, children....stories of neglect, armed robberies, drug thefts...ffs, my own father in law was held up at knife point at the pharmacy he works at, just for oxy's. A woman who set her grandmother on fire, a 21 year old kid who killed himself by setting his church and himself on fire. A man who was mentally unstable, needing his meds, shoots his own father and pistol whips his own mother, a 20 year old girl, murdered while her 14 month old daughter was left in the car. It's fucking nuts. All of it.

That's just sad. A student paper by an Arts major with a 4-year degree? Psssshh. Try again.

36. It certainly is about patriarchy -- and we have to know that if we want to stop this violence --
As long as patriarchy controls society we will suffer this violence --

and let me add, certainly patriarchy controls males, as well in our society --

there are a few benefits for them to distract them -- but basically they suffer

as women and children do --

Patriarchy and violence are mirror images of one another --

There is no denying either the effects of organized patriarchal religion on the

conditions of our society and its embrace of violence --

And in just one example ...

How many parents have turned their own children out of their homes because they were

homosexual?

Who taught them that -- who preached this intolerance and hatred for homosexuals from

their pulpits?

Patriarchy -- and its underpinning =

Organized Patriarchal Religion -- and its economic invention =

Capitalism =

The Unholy Trinity

when they "computer generate" they basically take the photo and try to clean the violence up..

12. I am sick of that phrase
"WTF is wrong with people"

You know what? There are 300 million people in this country and every day many of us are doing something questionable, and lots of us just basically are not very nice and/or not very smart. So sometimes we do dumb things without thinking. Others are desperate or damaged and do things that they/we wouldn't do under better circumstances. See, for example, the story of the Black Hole of Calcutta (although my Bengalie friend said that was a myth). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Hole_of_Calcutta

So, as it turns out, there end up being thousands of acts of depravity every day.

Another thing might be my cousins' gerbils. He had a couple of large fish tanks that were loaded with gerbils. Something like 30-40 gerbils per tank. He said that if he took a gerbil from one tank and put it into the other one, that the visiting gerbil would get killed by the others. They could smell a new one that was not of their tank, and did not welcome any newcomers. I bet they would not act that way if they had more room.

Funny thing is though, that there are also millions of acts of decency every day, but for some reason those do not generally make the news. Some people just seem to love to seek out those stories of depravity and then help to spread them so they can lament "WTF is wrong with people?"

It seems to me that the world is a little bit like the Smithsonian Museum where a bunch of people are lined up to go into the bathroom and look at a nasty dump of diarrhea. They walk by all the exhibits of beauty and edification to gawk at something disgusting and grotesque.

20. We're seeing the long term effects of a violent society that refuses to confront itself.
A society that runs on war. A society that won't provide any resources for people who need mental health treatment, many of whom are children, because it wants to spend all of its money on "defense."

Consequently, we have a society filled with sociopaths.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdiCJUysIT0

There's colors on the street
Red, white and blue
People shufflin' their feet
People sleepin' in their shoes
But there's a warnin' sign
on the road ahead
There's a lot of people sayin'
we'd be better off dead
Don't feel like Satan,
but I am to them
So I try to forget it,
any way I can.

Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world.

I see a woman in the night
With a baby in her hand
Under an old street light
Near a garbage can
Now she puts the kid away,
and she's gone to get a hit
She hates her life,
and what she's done to it
There's one more kid
that will never go to school
Never get to fall in love,
never get to be cool.

Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world.

We got a thousand points of light
For the homeless man
We got a kinder, gentler,
Machine gun hand
We got department stores
and toilet paper
Got styrofoam boxes
for the ozone layer
Got a man of the people,
says keep hope alive
Got fuel to burn,
got roads to drive.

Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world.

And, didn't see any reference in the story on this that I read as to how this

Texas family ended up in Maine --

Trust there is more common sense in Maine -- but the rightwing is very busy everywhere.

I'm seeing a LOT of moving vans again in front of houses here in NJ and on the roads

around here --

Birth control should be free --

In fact, we should be offering free vasectomies to all males --

24. This is eerily similar to Philadlephia's "Boy in the Box" case (1957):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boy_in_the_Box_(Philadelphia)

Let's hope this child is identified and the perpetrator(s) are caught. The old Philadelphia case serves to demonstrate that to *some* people, children have always been considered disposable. :-(
