"Man on Dog" Santorum thinks John McCain doesn't understand torture.
http://www.salon.com/news/rick_santorum/index.html?story=/politics/war_room/2011/05/17/santorum_mccain_enhanced_interrogation

Santorum: What does McCain know about torture?

HH: Now your former colleague, John McCain, said look, there’s no record, there’s no evidence here that these methods actually led to the capture or the killing of bin Laden. Do you disagree with that? Or do you think he’s got an argument?

RS: I don’t, everything I’ve read shows that we would not have gotten this information as to who this man was if it had not been gotten information from people who were subject to enhanced interrogation. And so this idea that we didn’t ask that question while Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was being waterboarded, he doesn’t understand how enhanced interrogation works. I mean, you break somebody, and after they’re broken, they become cooperative. And that’s when we got this information. And one thing led to another, and led to another, and that’s how we ended up with bin Laden.

Words fail. You simply cannot make shit like this up. Could Santorum actually not know that McCain was tortured by the North Vietnamese? This should blow little Ricky right out of the nomination race, imo. But it probably won't.

2. This is the same Rick Santorum who . . .
This is the same Rick Santorum who, as a junior Senator, called fellow GOP Senator Mark Hatfield (remember when there were sane Republicans?) a "traitor" for voting against a balanced budget amendment.

Senator Hatfield fought at Iwo Jima.

3. Maybe a few more years as a POW would have clued-in McCain
You see, the problem is that McCain just didn't spend enough time in captivity to truly understand the benefits of torture.

Santorum is a true patriot, not swayed by tales from disaffected Vietnam vets.

6. To Santorum, "torture" mean having to clean the sheets...
...to get rid of the "Santorum" stains before the wife gets home.

7. This story has united the right and left wingers in the comment section of my local paper's website.
They all agree Santorum is an idiot. Getting these people to agree on whether or not water is wet would be a struggle, so you know Santorum really stepped in it this time.

8. Good riddance. Another lunatic GOP contender out of the race before it started.
Is this really the BEST they have to offer? Really? Even the GOP must be embarrassed.

10. Heh. Ricky hasn't figured out yet that he can't talk his way out of this ......
Santorum issued a statement today clarifying that while he disagrees with McCain on the effectiveness of the techniques and whether they amount to torture, he never intended to question McCain’s military service.

“For anyone to infer my disagreement with Senator McCain’s policy position lessens my respect for his service to our country and all he had to endure is outrageous and unfortunate,” Santorum said.

Maybe Ricky should ask John McCain what he thinks about his statement that "McCain doesn't understand how enhanced interrogation works."
