(So much for Americans not having the skills or needing more education. When there are NO JOBS - skills and education are WORTHLESS)

3. I know, that degree in engineering will certainly help you...
with the making of someone's coffee at Starbucks.

6. my history, sociology, and education degrees
as well as the native american studies, african american studies, latino american studies i have done will help me to understand how the world got to be how it is, how groups of people tend to react to things, and this will help me to vote and talk about politics with people, even if i am selling them pot outside of a starbucks in seattle.

7. the more education you have
Edited on Wed May-18-11 03:22 PM by CountAllVotes
the smarter you shall be. It may have nothing to do with the subject you got the degree in necessarily.

An education is something that can help one tremendously in life and the subject(s) of one's education may have little if anything to do with what a person may actually do. That said, education can greatly assist one to sharpen and refine things like writing skills, to understand and comprehend things that would otherwise be impossible to comprehend. I'm sure that an engineer has skills that others do not have and that an engineer can understand and interpret things that others can't. Is this a waste? I do not think so.

Education can be very costly however, that is of no question. This aspect of education is making it very difficult if not impossible for some folks to obtain.

4. Well, that is true when there is
a sound education to be had with critical thinking and a liberal scope.

Today's "training" seems to belie the original intent of what we still refer to as an education.

Yet, having more "education" can help you to figure out who is screwing you, how much, and why. What good that will do, other than allow you to potentially find more courage, remains to be seen.

What is the value of knowing, when who you are and who you know have more clout and value each day when it comes to financial matters and justice?
