Lawmaker Says Women Should Plan Ahead in Case of Rape
Lawmaker Says Women Should Plan Ahead in Case of Rape, Since He Carries A Spare Tire

Abortion rights supporters are skeptical, believing the bill's backers want to cut off a way for women to cover the cost of terminating pregnancies.

And Rep. Barbara Bollier, a Mission Hills Republican who supports abortion rights, questioned whether women would buy abortion-only policies long before they have crisis or unwanted pregnancies or are rape victims.

During the House's debate, Rep. Pete DeGraaf, a Mulvane Republican who supports the bill, told her: "We do need to plan ahead, don't we, in life?"

Bollier asked him, "And so women need to plan ahead for issues that they have no control over with a pregnancy?"

DeGraaf drew groans of protest from some House members when he responded, "I have spare tire on my car."

"I also have life insurance,"
he added. "I have a lot of things that I plan ahead for."

:wow:

Leave your vaginas at home. There. Problem all solved.

8. But you can almost hear it from these nitwits, can't you?
Makes me want to kick them square in the nads and tell them they should have planned ahead: Either wear a cup or leave your testicles at home if you don't want someone to kick them.

10. I'm thinking more along the lines of what I've always told my 3 daughters - PUT A RUBBER ON IT!
I've been saying that since I thought they were old enough to hear it.

6. You know, EFerrari
I wonder just who in the hell the GOP hasn't offended in one way or another. I would also like to know if they have a "death wish" because the shit they have been pulling lately is suicidal, if you ask me.

he and his fellows develop Herod's affliction and be slowly devoured by maggots. Hope that is Biblical enough for his supporters.

14. I really believe
these people have no sense of empathy, compassion or whatever that divine thing, to place yourself in another's footsteps and actually feel what that person is feeling. To know deep down what your actions and words could affect someone. Do they lack that?

16. Yes, they do, imho.
And that's why as much as I like Thom Hartmann or as much as I want to agree with the administration, the truth is courting these people is a waste of time. We should be courting people who have dropped out, not these irredeemable sociopaths.

22. nice view he has of men, don't you think? ALL women need to be prepared to be raped, because, really
all the men are ready to rape (well, that must be it, if he thinks all women need to be prepared to be raped)

I wonder (and don't think I want to look) to see what his views on appropriate punishment for rapists is. he probably thinks the woman should be stoned.

Could we look under the rocks to see if he has a history of less than pleasant behavior? Men who make such statements, at least in my experience...do have an interesting history. At the very least, it makes you wonder if he's forced himself on anybody.

26. It appears as though DeGraaf doesn't see rape as such a big deal.
It's to be expected, almost. I hope he doesn't have daughters or other female relatives who will ever need support after a rape or assault. What a callous creep.

Not sure how else one would plan ahead for rape. I suppose we could carry guns with us at all times and hope it's not used against us?
