How about "someone with whom I generally agree but who overstepped the bounds of good taste and propriety in comments that were unnecessarily personal and sometimes inaccurate"?

A very old phrase that was quite common at one point in time.

But, that is what West does for a living.
Sometimes, he makes sense.
Sometimes, he does not make sense.

Is he a menace or a threat? No.
