Are Cornel West’s Views on Obama as Wild as His Afro?
rinceton University professor and author Cornel West has many followers who admire his pro-Black progressive ideology. His wit, historical research and insight into Black political and cultural life delight, entertain and intrigue many. But his months of attacks on the policies of President Barack Obama, and aspersions cast about the President’s Blackness, have upset some among the Black digerati and other commentators. No surprise. Freedom of speech, isn't for the faint of heart.

The lightning strike that ignited observers’ reaction were West’s comments about Obama saying that he is “black mascot of Wall Street oligarchs and a black puppet of corporate plutocrats” and has “has a certain fear of free Black men.”

2. To be fair, is the lack of objectivity in your post as great as your snarky headline?
The fact is that I am not totally comfortable with West's attacks on Obama, but I am not at all adverse to large voices on the left trying to pull Obama back to the left and to honor his campaign promises in spirit and in fact. I am Ok with that. West does make some very valid points about Obama mixed in with his harsh rhetoric.

6. NOW that is funny. My DNA will not allow me to be racist. What I am doing is trying to give the
other side. Everyone does not subscribe to the rantings of the good professor. That is across ethnic lines. Too many times, silence gives the feeling that what is spouted by a few speaks for many. I am unapologetically a strong supporter of Barack Obama. I realize that he has faults and have criticized him for it. However, I don't let it get the point of being bitter and dishonest. Those with whom I have spoken feel the same but their comments will probably never be seen in a blog or a part of a poll/
