1. Incredibly ineffective against the power of the Corporatists...
Edited on Thu May-19-11 08:34 PM by hlthe2b
Yes. Traitorous? No, certainly. But, I appreciate Peter Fonda's passion on the issue, if not his hyperbole. The people of NOLA and surrounding areas of the Gulf of Mexico---surely deserve better THIS time. But, that doesn't mean I don't think Obama has tried to protect their interests. Ineffectual on the big picture, though it seems.

..sadly

edited for typo.

6. Fonda's statement was a huge overreach.
Yours was worded well and actually would be listened to even if people didn't agree totally. In other words it's a starting point for discussion whereas fonda's ends discussion.

2. Of course not. Sick publicity stunt by Fonda.
Too bad, because I had been looking forward to the movie. Now I won't see it.

Peter Fonda should stick to acting and stop making dim-witted comments to the press!

7. No.
Maybe he could have done a better job with respect to the Gulf. But to call him a traitor is a touch much. I'm surprised that that thread has as many recs as it does. Maybe I shouldn't be....

So not a traitor, as much as an enabler.

41. Some people (like me) are afraid to vote since D.U. poll votes are not secret
Obama lets corporations roll over us as he proved during the health care discussions when he refused to meet with single payer advocates, including his Chicago family doctor of 20+ years.

Obama allowed BP to run the so-called cleanup. People who live on the Gulf Coast know the 'clean up' was a for show, half-assed 'show'. In reality tar balls are still washing up along the shores as well as dead fish.

BP and the Coast Guard effectively prevented photography and reporting of the gyre of dead whales, porpoises and other sea life.

Co-Rexit was allowed to poison the Gulf when the use of skimmers would have been more environmentally sound. But Obama possibly feared photographs of a Gulf of Mexico covered with black crude. So Co-Rexit was used to disperse the oil into the water. :(

45. How has killing bin Laden and warming his hands over trumps self-immolation
gotten us one bit of progressive legislation? How did either of those serve the unemployed? How did either one get health care for a single American? How did either one halt the ever increasing power of banks and wall street to control you life?

Nice macho piece of rah-rah bullshit though.

Possibly by speeding up the end of the war in Afghanistan and freeing up much needed funds.

Imagine the possibilities.
