New law bans use of children in lottery commercials

OKLAHOMA CITY - A bill Gov. Mary Fallin signed into law Wednesday will ban the use of children in commercials promoting the state lottery.

House Bill 1321 was passed after concerns were raised that children could not participate in the lottery but were being used in commercials to advocate for it.

Fallin also signed Senate Bill 658, which creates a 21-member task force to study the state's liquor laws and issue a report to lawmakers regarding whether strong-point beer and wine could be sold in grocery stores.

Sen. Clark Jolley, R-Edmond, said a lot of ancillary issues are associated with proposals to sell strong beer and wine in grocery stores.
