Breaking: French woman won't demand charges against IMF head
PARIS — The lawyer for a French writer who alleged former International Monetary Fund head Dominique Strauss-Kahn sexually assaulted her eight years ago says she won't file a criminal complaint against him for now.

David Koubbi told BFM TV Friday that he and client Tristane Banon will decide later about filing a complaint because they "don't want to be manipulated by the U.S. justice system."

I smell a substantial expansion of her bank account.

1. But will she testify if asked to?

4. Her testimony shouldn't be admitted in this case
There are rules against this, you know.

The accused have a right to a fair trial, and if you let everyone just line up and say "me, too", that right might be violated. Apparently the US investigators wanted to talk to her, and she is refusing.

I think she's likely to face social repercussions in France if she pursues this, but it doesn't really affect the US case.

2. So she won't file charges in her own nation?
She claims he assaulted her. He didn't assault France. Just mindboggling.

3. Very well could be that she was paid off. But I don't think I'd like to
be a part of a "media circus" in the U.S., which is what it would be if she did testify here. It's too bad because when women don't step up and tell what happened to them, then other women subsequently suffer, which is what happened.
