Ohio's new chief executive will commute from his Genoa Township residence rather than use the Governor's Mansion in Bexley.

Home sweet Genoa Township. New Ohio Gov. John Kasich (Republican) will stay put in his house on Lanetta Lane instead of moving to the Governor's Mansion in Bexley when he formally takes office Tuesday, Jan. 11.....

Kasich's daily commute to Downtown will be 19.5 miles, compared to only 4.1 miles if he lived in the Governor's Mansion at 358 N. Parkview Ave. in Bexley.

The main complaint about the residency switch is increased costs with security, but no figures have been released.

..............

Just saying if this was a Dem you would hear a huge outcry from the Repub's!

Let him pay for it himself if he wants to live in his home!

And that's a great signature there.

That's exactly what we're dealing with.

4. Security?
Seems the new king of Ohio fears the crowds a wee bit.

COLUMBUS — There's been no doubt that there will be budget cuts after Governor-elect John Kasich takes office, and he was warning even before the election that there would be protests over some of what he plans.

And then he saw the recent photo of a horrified Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, as London student protesters, angry over the tripling of college tuition, attacked their car headed for the theater.

"There are going to be some protests ," Mr. Kasich told The Blade. "It's all right. When I noticed the picture of Charles and Camilla on the front page, that somebody tried to kick in their door, that's outrageous. Frankly, it hacks me off to see people being so violent."

Mr. Kasich, a Republican, faces a potential revenue shortfall of as much as $8 billion to $10 billion going into the next two-year budget. He declined to comment on whether protests of the level seen in the United Kingdom, Greece, and other European nations over budget cuts are likely at the Statehouse.

12. According To My Cousin, Who Used To Work For Kasich...........
.............he is, and I quote, "an overgrown child, who will throw a temper tantrum whenever he doesn't get his own way."

The good news is that Kasich is SO off his rocker that there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Ohioans will vote him out of office emphatically in 2014. The bad news is that he has 4 whole years to destroy the State (and line his pockets) until that happens. And then he'll go right back to his cushy job at Faux.

11. that's an abfab idea! I hope they do it. I wonder how long before they put up a sign that says
this street is for residents only, all others will be arrested for interfering w/govt business, or, patrol cars will harass cars they don't recognize.

I'm sure the residents will just love all the added traffic/attention.

10. When the R's in Ohio scream as loudly about this as...
the ones here in Illinois did about Blago's refusal to live in the Governor's Mansion, then maybe he'll listen. Of course we all know that they won't.
