100-Year-Old Helps Deliver Meals On Wheels

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Maurene Bartlett turned 100 years old last Friday. For 15 years she has helped her granddaughter, Kim Shultz, deliver meals as part of the Meals on Wheels program.

Bartlett said she is blessed to be able to help people, even as she has turned 100.

Shultz said they started doing this together 15 years ago when Shultz's daughter was an infant.

"I needed somebody to stay in the car with my daughter. Now here we are 15 years later. We love it and wouldn't miss it," Shultz said.

"I'll do this as long as I can," said Bartlett. "Or as long as Kim can stand me."

1. I once saw an old retired Marine with a walker picking up trash along a state road
There was a sign stating that some retired Marine group had adopted the road next to the vehicle where he and the several other gentlemen had parked. Not one in the group looked under 80. True story.

3. More power to her.

I just hope she can take the cold weather and can handle walking in snow and ice.

4. what a lovely story of purpose
to give when there is no other reason - except to continue to give so that one can continue to enjoy being alive.
