Friend --
Good news deserves to be passed along. In case you hadn't already heard, Chrysler announced today that it has repaid nearly $5.9 billion lent to it by this administration, including fees and interest payments -- six years ahead of schedule.
We also know that the auto industry has added 115,000 jobs since GM and Chrysler came out of bankruptcy -- the fastest rate since the 1990s.
Read the Detroit Free Press report here, and pass it on:
http://my.barackobama.com/Chrysler-NewsWe know there are more difficult days ahead as these companies, and the communities that are sustained by them, continue to recover. But today's news is another sign that President Obama's tough decision to provide these loans -- so unpopular in Washington at the time -- is paying off for taxpayers and for our local economy, earlier than expected.
These loans didn't just prevent the loss of thousands of jobs in a sector that forms the backbone of many states' economies -- they also prevented a ripple effect that would have spread throughout our nation's economy.
Please forward this email to anyone you know whose lives are affected by the recovery of the auto industry.
Thanks,
Jeremy
