Calgary Herald - U.S. Losing War on Drugs
According to a "frank appraisal" requested by the president, the War on Drugs is not working. Report says it is time to "be realistic" and that "addict rehabilitation should be wound in with solutions for other problems besetting victims - jobs, education, and vocational training"

Is our government finally coming to its senses?

1. Full legalization, regulation, and taxation for pot. Treatment on demand, treat addiction as a
health issue, not a law enforcement one. Get the government out of the business of telling consenting adults what they can or can't do with their own bodies, if they're not directly harming or endangering others.

The drug war is a sham, a joke, and a failure. End it.

4. Phrased as if the point of the "war" is to win it...
...when mere perpetuation is the goal.

5. Yes, like the wars of Orwell's 1984...
...this war is a perpetual money-maker and power-maker. Too many moneyed interests have a stake in the War on Drugs.

6. war on drugs is a racket.
it's never been about "winning" it's always been about setting up cottage industries to line the pockets of politicians and corporations.

the term, "war on drugs", is nothing more than clever sloganeering.

like the other wars we fight concerning faceless undefinable topics, it's just about money.
