I don't know much about him other than that he's run as a Democrat before, but here is a quote from his concession speech:

This campaign was about you and your families and we the people. It's about changing our government to work for the people, not the investment bankers and multinational corporations. when the three men in a room tried to tell us who would be on the ballot, 12,000 of you said, "No." And when the lobbyists came and spent millions of dollars to buy this election, we said, "No, we won't vote. You won't tell us how to vote."

When the Wall Street investment bankers said we don't need to make things in Ameirca anymore, we said, "No, you are wrong." You are destroying our jobs, our homes, our health care, our social security, and putting our children in debt and poverty.

1. I read somewhere that some people who jilted Davis in recent days ultimately voted for Hochul.
Not a majority of them, but some. So, I'm not convinced he was a spoiler.

2. What about his anti-corporate speech?
I've noticed a few times a lot of the left is deaf to the anti-corporate rhetoric in the tea party; it's a sign we could possibly co-opt part of the movement.

6. I think we would only definitely lose those who bought into the TP's repressive social agenda.

3. So he's a democrat running as a TP member?
If so and they voted for him anyway... How smart could they be?

4. Like I said I know almost nothing about the guy
But I'm interested that somebody is tapping into the anti-corporate undercurrent in the tea party rather than just the anti-government side. (Though then again Ron Paul complains about corporatists in government.)

5. Kinda proves what I've thought for a long time

Teabaggers aren't that bright. They don't do their homework.

This guy strikes me a one of those perennial candidate types who just likes the attention he gets campaigning.

7. Aside from ego issues he seems to be committed to an anti-NAFTA and anti-WTO message.
http://washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/opinion-zone/2011/05/ny26-special-renegade-tea-party-candidate-embraced-birchers-not-birthers

"...as Slate's David Weigel points out Jack Davis' angry unfiltered anti-elite, anti-Washington message is not entirely unreflective of the notoriously loose-knit Tea Party movement overall. In this and past runs, Davis has been vociferously anti-trade, inveighing against the NAFTA agreement. ... But at Tea Party rallies, it can be difficult to find any support for free trade among the grassroots.

While liberal pundits love to point out the loonier hangers-on to any Tea Party-backed candidate, there hasn't been evidence of "birthers" or "truthers" rallying around Davis' campaign. However, his rabidly anti-trade platform has caught the attention of the infamously conspiracy-obsessed John Birch Society. Davis' official campaign site seems to have no compunction about boasting of and linking to a story from the New American magazine, the Birchers' official organ, praising his protectionism.

8. I think there's a lot of common ground between the disaffected right and disaffected left on trade

And on corporate influence in government. It's why Kucinich's claim that he'd nominate Ron Paul for VP isn't unthinkable.

10. *shrug* some people don't like presenting the tea party as anything more than one-dimensional
Or sometimes people mis-click.
