Insanity and empathy
They say that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Empathy allows us to put ourselves in "another person's shoes". Republicans nowadays seem to be lacking in both sanity and empathy.

The Tea Party voted for the Republicans in the last election primarily because they thought their Party had changed its ways. They would no longer run up huge debts and spend us into oblivion. They had learned their lesson, they said.

But no sooner than they bring the gavel down, they start talking about taxcuts for the wealthy once again. The same old insanity that put us in the hole in the first place. The Tea Party voters were played for fools. Some might say they didn't have far to go?

On top of all that, Republicans in the new Congress voted almost unanimously to dismantle Medicare. This was after the Tea Party jumped all over the Democrats for death panels and screamed at them not to touch their Medicare. Then the Republicans went right out and touched their Medicare. Talk about respect. How could the Tea Party not be pissed off?

The Republicans said they were going to give old folks "vouchers" to pay for their medical needs when they reached 65 years old. This is where their empathy is lacking. Can you imagine? Can you put yourself in an old person's shoes that is very sick and needing medical attention immediately? Where do you start looking with your voucher? Where do you go? Where do you get the energy and the stamina to undertake such an immediate search? It is insane.
