Paul Ryan: 2012’s Goldwater?
May 25th, 2011 at 8:41 am DAVID FRUM

I used to worry that Sarah Palin would be the Barry Goldwater of 2012. My bad. Paul Ryan is the Barry Goldwater of 2012.
~snip~

. . . The big issues of 2012 will be jobs and incomes in a nation still unrecovered from the catastrophe of 2008-2009. What does the GOP have to say to hard-pressed voters? Thus far the answer is: we offer Medicare cuts, Medicaid cuts, and tighter money aimed at raising the external value of the dollar.

No candidate, not even if he or she is born in a log cabin, would be able to sell that message to America’s working class.

4. RepigBaggers Have Control of 27 States (With 270 Electoral Votes)
They are implementing their voter suppression programs in all of them,
and likely their vote-stealing programs as well.

They may very well steal the elections.

3. The Senate democrats were smart to get their votes on the record
Republicans had the choice between voting against the Ryan budget, which would kill Medicare and piss off not only seniors but the majority of Americans who support keeping it, or voting against it and pissing off their tea party supporters. They chose the former, and now democrats need to hammer republicans from now to election day, depicting them as wanting to throw Grandma off a cliff.
