I thought I'd lost most of my respect for the man during his "attack dog" tactics against President Obama during the 2008 campaign. I was wrong--there was still some respect left to lose, and Mr. Clinton lost it today.

42. same asshole who backed *1 funded his initial run: Jackson Stephens
But when it appeared that George Bush's presidency was doomed Stephens changed horses..
Jackson Stephens raised at least $100,000 for Bill Clinton's first Presidential campaign (Source: Seattle Times, November 6, 1993)

Stephens "extended a $3.5 million line of credit to campaign through the Worthen Bank, which is partly owned by the Stephens family. The Clinton campaign deposited up to $55 million in federal election funds in this bank." (Source: The Nation)
-snip
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/1/31/21045/9822/688/446786

and Clinton payed him back big time:

WTI Toxic waste Incinerator, Repeal of Glass Steagall, MFN status with China, Telecom Act of '96.....to name a few favors

I suspect a lot of his discussions could be concerning or open to misunderstanding. The way in which supposed political foes interact in private would probably confuse/dismay the majority of us. Who knows....

39. You're right. Clinton doesn't believe in destroying Medicare
His wife is part of Obama's administration. I think Clinton might just be trying to help overcome the Republican intransigence about working with Obama.

12. Bill Clinton: Helping Dems snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Fucking pathetic. I'm not mad at Clinton for showing his true conservative colors. I will be very angry if the National Democratic Party does not formally rebuke Clinton for his treason to the New Deal and the Democratic Party. In fact, if the party fails to rebuke Clinton for this fucking bullshit, I'll be leaving the Dems for greener pastures.

I will be calling Karen Bass, Feinstein and Boxer tomorrow.

None of us know what he was planning to say to Ryan if they ever did meet.

It is TRUE that something needs to be done to fix Medicare, but that could mean forcing profit-making hospitals to cut their margins -- or any number of things.

Why assume the worst about Clinton?

I wouldn't read too much into those- what, two sentences?

Well, okay. Clearly, Clinton should have taken a whizz in Ryan's drink, then maybe kicked the dude in the face for good measure.

But I don't think it's anything to freak out over.

32. Oh?
Maybe you're right. Maybe the BP, Chase, GE, GM, Alliance, Nationwide, Dow Chemical, Litton Industries candidate IS better than the Exxon-Mobile, BofA, Bayer, Ford, Signa, Monsanto, Johnson and Johnson, Locheed Martin bastard!

Or maybe, just MAYBE, when they both get paid by the same guys to get into office, vote the same way when they are in there, and then work for them when they get out, maybe there is some... reason?

No, that's crazy. Right?

Republicans vote like "republicans" because they are evil heartless bastards, but democrats vote like "republicans" because they are confused bumblers who couldn't remember anything they promised when running. Republicans see the poles and laugh at the little people they are screwing for their corporate masters! Democrats got confused by all the numbers and wanting to get along.

Seriously, do you actually believe that crap? Do you think Obama is an idiot or weak? You think Reid is a fool? The so-called right and left are paid for by exactly the same corporations and lobbies. When BP gave Obama money for his campaign it was with the expectation that they would see a solid return on their investment, and while it was BP last time it could as easily have been Exxon-Mobile. These mega-corps pay a lot, but their return is a thousand to one.

And further, who do you think actually pays for the "grass roots" activists groups? You think the Tea Parties or Greenpeace are funded by the common man? You think tour buses and rock concert stages are free? You think they give boats away? If so, wake the hell up. Activist groups advance regulatory capture, and that's fantastic for business.

35. More information...
Here's a few select samples:

http://www.opensecrets.org/industries/indus.php?ind=D
http://www.opensecrets.org/industries/indus.php?ind=F
http://www.opensecrets.org/industries/indus.php?ind=H
http://www.opensecrets.org/industries/indus.php?ind=B

Note that these industries really don't care who wins. They are equal opportunity employers when it comes to buying influence. The fight in Washigton is over who will get to represent these mega-corps. All the screaming and hate and rhetoric is little more than clowns firing pies at each other in the center ring. The clowns, however "angry" they might seem, aren't really mad -- they work for the same ringmaster. It's the greatest show on earth.

Unless you believe it should be left exactly as is, then you also believe we should reform Medicare. He never said he supported privatizing <edicare. His point was that it's not enough to just oppose the Ryan proposal. I agree.
