OK the morans have solved 'the birds are falling' crisis
http://www.goddiscussion.com/38562/kirk-cameron-birds-falling-from-the-sky-had-to-do-with-pagan-mythology-not-the-bible/
<snip>
Kirk Cameron, the actor who teamed up with Christian evangelist Ray Comfort to promote creationism, told CNN's Anderson Cooper that he did not think that birds falling from the sky and fish dying in Arkansas related to the Bible and End Times, and that a veterinarian would be better suited to explain the mysterious deaths.

When pushed by Cooper about End Times events, such as those portrayed in the Left Behind Series in which Cameron, a devout Christian, starred, he explained:

That has to do more with pagan mythology; the direction that the birds flew told some of the followers of some of those legends that the gods were either pleased or displeased with them.

Bat shit crazy does not quite describe these people.

2. Actually that interview seemed fine.

I didn't see much wrong with that from my view. Although I think the Pilgrims went a bit far in some of their rules, but that might be my view, where they tilted to lack of joy in life. He seems happy also, so that's a good thing also.

His comment on the birds portraying 'signs of God' is the same as when people would see lighting or thunder or volcanoes and think it is supernatural. Through history people have seen events and thought if they are signs from supernatural.

There are many stories of people taking 'events' and trying to see if that is God's action.

As far as 'end times' I don't worry about that stuff either.

Then again I have seen lighting and thunder for both help and inspiration in my personal life, so

He really seemed rational.

On a side note, I think there are wonders in many things, that say different things to different people, but the concept of love and treating people how you would want to be treated isn't that complicated of an idea, and most think about that. But it is fun to watch spectacular stuff like storms and many things that could be inspired.

4. He doesn't seem to be spewing bat shit craziness...
He seems like the typical religious person there. He even said (in so many words) that they should look to science to figure this out.

17. in 2000 USDA wanted to kill 2 million black birds to save crops
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today denied an application for a scientific collecting permit, submitted by USDA under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA), to kill an unprecedented 2 million blackbirds as part of an experiment to reduce damage to commercially grown sunflowers, a favorite blackbird food during late-summer and fall. The experiment, proposed by USDA Animal, Plant, Health Inspection Service (APHIS) - Wildlife Services, formerly known as Animal Damage Control, would use pesticide-laced rice strewn in corn stubble fields to attract and kill six species of blackbirds as they migrate north in the spring through sunflower-producing areas in east-central South Dakota.

8. are you saying that no primitive people ever thought that birds were omens?
I don't know enough about it to confirm this statement but it seems plausible.

It would not surprise me at all if some cultures felt that the direction birds were flying held some message from their gods. I would assume that sometimes birds flee before a storm. If people caught on that storms followed birds flying in large flocks in one direction then it may be seen as an omen.

Not that the guy isn't bat shit crazy, it is just that the statement quoted seems plausible, especially for a nut job.
