3. That Un-Patriotic Act
is one of the most serious threats we face today as a people!

We have a KGB/Stasi ++ in our midst. It is above the law. By mutual agreement, we are the law in total because, no matter who says what, we consent to it and uphold it. This "act", (double entendre) is dangerous and relies on the interpretation of who the terrorists are.

Is it a coincidence that we are waking-up to the biggest screwing we may have ever had and that it is becoming so obvious that they can't cover it up and even speak boldly about taking away what we have struggled and fought for for decades, while the means are set firmly in place to reckon with any form of revolt, in whatever shape or form it may have to take? The more you screw a people, the more you should make provisions to defend your Status Quo. All it takes is a boogie-man and imposed fears, maybe a patriotic name as well, and you have the means to control, imprison and delete your citizenry without due process whenever you deem it useful or necessary. Who's got the power, now, then?

This "act" effectively negates any notions we may have about the power of our Constitution, living in a "democracy" or any other notions that, while we still subscribe to and believe in them, are quickly becoming a thing of the past, right before our very eyes. Are you waving goodbye to them yet?

I really don't think it is just a coincidence at all.

It is an unconstitutional power grab and a gutting of long-standing civil liberties.

6. No. No, a thousand times, no. Not one bit, not one iota.
Hopefully that will clarify any confusion. :)

12. 2,4, and 6
I oppose it for all the even reasons, but I don't even need a reason. That shit is evil waiting to blossom. Nothing so prone or prime for abuse could be conceived except in evil.

13. Absolutely support it because the president is a Democrat.
Edited on Sat May-28-11 04:52 AM by JoeyT
However, should the next president be a Republican, I'll immediately pull an about face and insist it's the most immoral unconstitutional grab for power in the history of the entire world. Then I'll act pissy if you remind me I supported it and call you a liar. If you prove me wrong by linking to this post I'll insist you're calling me out. A hissy fit will be thrown.

I was actually torn between 2 and 4. I guess 2 is the one I'd go with, since it's not really a grab for power anymore. The power was grabbed a while back, now it's just about maintaining it.

14. No Just Because
Edited on Sat May-28-11 05:03 AM by ProfessorGAC
All of it isn't unconstitutional. However, it's a grotesque overreaction and i've seen no evidence it has anything to do with preventing major attacks.

So, since it is a gross overreach and pretty much useless i'm against it "just because". Not that i disagree that parts of it are subrogational.
