100,000 Anti-U.S. Marchers In Baghdad
On Thursday, 5/26 an estimated 100,000 people marched peacefully in Baghdad and thousands more marched elsewhere in Iraq, demanding the U.S. military and its contractors leave the nation on 12/31/11 as America's SOFA agreement requires.

The U.S. still has 48,000 soldiers and thousands of contractors there. Earlier this week U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates strongly stated the U.S. military should keep 10,000 soldiers there and presumably some large number of contractors, to maintain order and to help protect Iraq from Iran.

By this large scale peace protest, many Iraqis are saying no to the U.S.

1. From the LATimes link...
"Sadr's followers, many of them members of his now-inactive Mahdi Army militia, turned out Thursday from Baghdad and cities across the south. They said proudly that they had fought the U.S. military in the past and were awaiting the call from their leader to fight again."

Well that's good news! :sarcasm:

If I were in Baghdad, I'd be marching too.
