The American People Have Made It Abundantly Clear What They Do & Don't Want...Yet
Look at the polls. They don't want Medicare and SS touched. There's a deficit problem...well there are plenty of other remedies. Bush tax cuts for the rich, make corporations pay their fair share, close tax loopholes, stop oil subsidies, end the wars and stop paying billions each month in Afghanistan and Iraq, cut gov. fraud and waste. There are plenty of things that could be done yet from Clinton on down there only seems to be two remedies, SS and Medicare.

1. Actually it's the tea-hate party.
Their hatred extends to all women, children, gays, seniors, and yes of course
people of color.

5. The Clinton-Ryan Conversation Makes It Clear
There are dems on board with this too. And from what I read, the infamous gang of 6 were going to cut Medicare, what he;d it up was that Coburn refused to go along with getting rid of the tax cuts too.

7. What, specifically, do you think...
Clinton said to Ryan?

Did you listen to what he actually said or did you hear what you think he said?

14. I Listened To What Clinton Said
And if you did too you're aware that Clinton thinks they should cut Medicare and that he offered to talk to Ryan further about it. And aside from the fact that I disagree with his approach to deficit cutting I don't appreciate him paling up to Ryan after all he has said about the Pres' positions, the dems and the lies he has told.

And the incivility of your reply suggests you can't actually dispute it.

It's YOUR claim. Please point to anywhere that Clinton stated he want to cut Medicare.

20. Oh Dear
You obviously didn't understand what he was saying when he said he was afraid paralysis would set in and they wouldn't do anything.

22. Does "do anything" mean...
cut benefits?

There are a lot of strategies that could be employed to ensure Social Security and Medicare's continued health.

You still have not pointed to where Clinton said anything like what you claim.

25. MY lack of comprehension?
nuance is not your strong suit.

If you had evidence that Clinton wants to cut benefits, you'd have presented it already.

26. See That's My Point
The video which was played in so many places because of the shock of seeing Clinton agreeing with Ryan, speaks for itself.

Are you trying to claim that Clinton, in any way, agrees with Ryan's "solution"?

2. I wonder how many people think what we pay for the military can't be cut?
I say, "what we pay" because I honestly think that most Americans HAVE NO CLUE as to how much we pay for the military:

8. I Would Say That Going By The Polls
That they're getting fed up with the drain the military has become. And they certainly don't like it when they read about Karzai corruption or paying Taliban leaders cash that could be spent here at home.

4. If the American people want to "make it abundantly clear"...
they are going to have to, at least, vote and not wait for some pollster to call them on the phone.

Think Obama's campaign rhetoric and his actions as President for an example.

13. Not sure the polls say they dont want Medicare and SS "touched"..
I think they dont want them radically changed. I suspect most would fine with some tweaking and modifications if that meant helping those programs become more stable for future generations.

24. but...
"The poll found a deep current of pessimism about the future of Social Security and Medicare. As much as Americans say the programs are indispensable, only 35 percent say it’s extremely or very likely that Social Security will be there to pay benefits through their entire retirement. For Medicare, it was 36 percent."

That suggests many would be acceptive to fixes to both programs.
