Hydrogen fuel cell (or other new technology) cars will save the gas guzzler from extinction.
I saw this on some car show on BBC America. They were doing a segment on currently operating fuel cell cars. The host cited the fact that oil was running out. But shifting to other than petroleum fuels, important historical cars (including those in private collections or owned singularly by private owners) would still be able to be fueled and driven.

I think this is a good thing.

This post was inspired by watching Parnelli Jones take a lap in the first Indy 500 winner, a 100 year old wooden bodied race car.

1. Have seen some old film of pre-Indy 500 races at the track
The cars went so slow the spectators actually walked around the track among the cars to watch the race.

It was pretty interesting to see.

2. As long as people drink booze, there will be fuel for (antique) internal combustion cars

Rejet the carbs (or remap the fuel injection) on any gasoline vehicle, and it will run nicely on backyard hooch.

No need to throw out the 16 valve DOHC engine in your 1913 Peugeot to keep it running for occasional vintage races, exhibitions, and fun runs - yes, the basic architecture of the "modern" IC engine has been unchanged for nearly 100 years.

Within 10 years, practically all new passenger cars will be plug-in hybrids. But, in the long run, EV and fuel cells are the way forward

3. We can always run internal combustion engines on bio fuels.
with a few minor mods.
