Watching the Wheels

I'm pretty excited – the local State University called my wife yesterday to ask if she would teach a course this semester. It's the “Psychology of Personal Adjustment.” Though it is short notice, she is going to do it. She works as the director of the county substance abuse services days, and will be having classes twice a week in the evening.

Our “boys” are working on their book's layout. In the past couple of days, we've had a few contacts from county and state groups that want them to present their book this spring. It looks like the book will be at least 350 pages. It's taken about five years of work, outside of college and their jobs. The younger son just applied for a teaching position yesterday; it would be with “at risk” teens in an alternative setting.

Our daughters continue to be scholar/athletes. Their grades in school are proof-positive of human evolution. And they are doing great at winter track and basketball. (Chloe was injured in soccer, and is out of contact sports for a year; hence, winter track. Why, oh why, do teenagers fail to inform their parents and coaches when they are first injured?)

Someone from the local Rotary is coming over tonight. We'll be hosting a girl from France. She is good friends with my daughters.

Things are slow for me right now. I fell yesterday – very hard – and was outside on the ground for an extended period. No one was home to help me, and I couldn't get up. It's been an extremely painful 24 hours. Yet, I am quite happy, as I've had almost a decade to adjust to being physically disabled. This is just a temporary episode. Time moves forward, and in cycles, and I am content to listen to John Lennon sing about watching the wheels go round and round.

Peace & Happy New Year!
H2O Man

Take each step in the unfair outside of winter with a bit of care.

We want you hanging around here for awhile yet. Will we have to pester relatives to get an account of what happened?

2. Thanks.
An old friend brought me a bag of ginseng today. Nothing like drinking tea and watching the snow coming down. But I surely am not going out in it today!

7. Peace and blessings to you as well.
That's a lovely artifact display.

Thanks for the good wishes, I survived a tech screen last night and was submitted for a position today, so without jinxing it, I have a glimmer of hope.

8. Keep the rubber side down, my friend.
Thanks for the good news. We could all use some of that these days.

In a similar vein, my son leaves today to interview for his dream job. I'm very happy for him. Part of me is afraid he'll get it, because it means he'll have to move away.

Sometimes letting go is hard, but he's a fine young man and is ready.

Good luck to you and yours, I hope this is a better year for us all.

Peace, out.
