New Yorkers to Palin & Trump - Use Hands not Forks to Eat Pizza!!!!
Sarah Palin, New Yorkers have a message for you: You're doing it wrong!

The Tea Party favorite and fellow GOP media-monger, Donald Trump, committed the cardinal sin of pizza-eating on Tuesday when they shared at pie at Famiglia Pizzeria in Times Square during a stop on her "One Nation" bus tour.

-----

"She doesn't know any better," Darrell Carter, 50, an exterminator from the Bronx says. "Only Sarah Palin would eat pizza with a fork in New York."

Adama Tourray, 25, a clothing store employee from the Bronx, says he has never seen anyone eat pizza with a fork in the Big Apple before.

"It's not New York style," he says. "You got to grab it."

Remember Kerry getting grief in Philly for how he ordered his Philly cheesesteak?

1. This does remind me of the Kerry thing
I like eating pizza with utensils, though I usually get impatient halfway through and switch to hands-only.

I remember back in 2004 I agreed with Kerry that swiss would be better, but since then I've actually had a real Philly with cheez-whiz and was impressed how good it was.

11. The true Philly cheesesteak is
the only justification for the existence of Cheez Whiz. :)

12. That's why I initially sympathized with Kerry
I've always hated cheez whiz, until I had a steak sandwich on south street. Since then I've been converted :)

None of this would have happened if his Hairness and Mooselini had just gone to that nice Olive Garden on Times Square instead.

3. In a way, this is silly, but silly is what the media thrives on...
So pols better learn the local customs.

4. Silly as this may seem on the surface, it demonstrates a certain stupidity considering manners
by both of them.

It's gracious and respectful to do it the way the locals do.

16. You know, she's an idiot and all, but it isn't bad manners to eat
pizza with utensils.

It's gracious and respectful to do like the locals? Where were they, an village in the Amazon?

28. There are probably locals
who eat pizza with a fork and knife. But, they probably do it in their houses so they don't end up on the news.

Good grief.

9. I have at times if the pizza was sloppy and hard to pick up
But most of the time I fold it as a friend who was a native NY'er from Brooklyn showed me back in the late 70's.

14. Yeah, we've all had "floppy slices" where the "flip the far end over" technique doesn't work, ......
Edited on Wed Jun-01-11 05:24 PM by Tesha
or on the hard cases, even the "then fold-it-in-half
lengthwise" technique doesn't work, but does anyone
routinely eat their slices with a fork?

15. I have from time to time. Depending on the slice
sometimes I use a fork to begin with and finish the slice by hand.

only option left.

I've found great pizza joints that aren't like that

8. Will this be as big as Obama having orange juice with his breakfast?
Boy, did that cause the popular media to blow a gasket! Orange juice with breakfast instead of coffee! It proved without further evidence just what an outsider Obama was, totally outside the mainstream of accepted discourse. CNN, MSNBC and Fox all devoted significant air time to OJ-gate back in 2008. Will pizza/fork-gate similarly doom non-candidates Quitterella and T Rump?

13. Oh fer crissakes. Famiglia doesn't even require the "Brooklyn fold".
in which the gooey, drippy slice is folded lengthwise along its axis of symmetry, creating sort of a pizza wrap.

But Famiglia? Some measure of its NYC street cred may be gained by the fact that it has a branch in the Houston airport. Yes, Houston.

19. There were some who thought it was ok for Obama to eat a hamburger
with a fork - why not eat pizza that way, at least until a slice is half gone and it's easier to pick up.
