1. Doesn't a recess for the Senate have to be agreed by the House?

2. Yes, this one is the Repugs fault, not Reid.

3. Yes. Reid had nothing to do with it.
In order for the Senate to adjourn, the House must pass a resolution authorizing it to do so. If the House does not pass an adjournment resolution, the Senate cannot adjourn. If it cannot adjourn, it must meet.

If it must meet when there's a shortage of Senators, they have pro-forma sessions.

The repubs in the House--remember, they have a majority there?--said they wouldn't pass an adjournment resolution. That took it entirely out of Reid's hands. He didn't adjourn the Senate because he couldn't.

Doesn't that just make you really, really mad? I mean, here you are blaming the entire Democratic Party for something that you think Reid did--when, in fact, Reid had nothing to do with it. All that anger, so totally misplaced.

6. Reid could have kept the Senate open in a real session and refuse any recesses until

Republicans back off and allow recess appointments.

Why allow the Republicans to take yet another vacation paid for by us if they want to obstruct?

This is a pretend "bogus" Senate session much like the fake phantom Republican filibusters.
