The first sensible Sarah Palin theory I've come across...
A writer to Andrew Sullivan opines:
I think Palin is going to continue this media circus, play coy about running, and build her branding as the voice of white working-class resentment right up to the GOP Convention in 2012. Then Romney/Pawlenty/Guiliani (whoever does the actual work of primaries and caucuses) will have no choice but to hold their nose and put her on the ticket. She gets an historic "title" and all the attention, but cunningly gets to avoid traditional debates, interviews, and policy speeches during the primary season. She wants to solidify the belief among the Republican Elites that she - and only she - can deliver this necessary segment of the base.
.

Makes sense to me, and I wouldn't put it past her to keep up the performance as VP nominee.

1. Sorry, but no.
Giuliani, Pawlenty, Romney aren't about to let Palin go rogue on them. She will not be their choice as running mate.

6. Yes, but President Palin might tolerate Jesus as her Vice President.
Edited on Wed Jun-01-11 09:55 PM by Boojatta
Unfortunately, the Constitution won't tolerate it, which is why Donald Trump has been drawing attention to that part of the Constitution. It should be amended so that we won't hear outlandish Donald-ish trumped-up charges ever again. Earned American citizenship should provide all the rights and privileges that silver spoon American citizenship provides.

9. I don't think Palin has any interest in running for President or VP (again)
She doesn't want that responsibility; she doesn't want the media pressure and having to do speeches, she doesn't want to see the news headlines and weekly poll numbers, and I think she might even know, deep down, that she doesn't have what it takes intellectually.

Her gig right now is WAY better and she'll keep it up until people get tired of her and stop paying her to do her silly little speeches.

14. Also
She won't even tell her fans where she's going on this bus tour because she doesn't want the media there and people think she'd want the spotlight of being a VP or President???? Hell, she already gave up her fucking governorship for this very reason.

This woman is afraid of crowds unless she knows they are there to LISTEN and not ask questions. She knows full well that this is not the way it happens when you're President or even VP.

She let out a sigh of relief when she and McCain lost. I promise you guys that.

11. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride?
Nope, not gonna happen. She's either in it for the brass ring, or she's just trying to pump up sales of her next ghostwritten book.

17. She won't run. She does not have the brains nor courage. She is successfully doing everyone a good
favor though, and that is, it's showing how completely out of wack our msm is.

18. I think the rumors of her fighting with Fox brass are true and she is trying
To show them not to dick around with her & wanting to show off her Eva Peron type "star power" with the wingnuts as sort of a threat to them to not try and to minimize her.

19. She wants people to think she *might* run because the buzz is good for speaking fees, book sales,

donations to her PAC's etc. She's just in it for the money and the attention.

I suspect she will enter the race at the last minute, participate in a couple of primaries and then drop out. She may attach herself as VP... but I don't think she (or most people, really) understands how much work is involved as a VP. She may turn down a VP invite from the candidate most likely to win.

She will not win an office in this election, whether or not thats what she really wants. She may have appeal to the people who vote in republican primaries, but she's still toxic to independents and mainstream repubs. I remember McCheese was leading Obama until he made Palin his VP choice. I think she pretty much crashed his campaign.
