Gov. Christie Thinks A Family Making $6,000 A Year Is Too Rich To Qualify For Medicaid
Despite recent polls that show Americans are just as protective of Medicaid as they are of Medicare, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is trying to gut the popular program in his state and prevent 23,000 people from receiving benefits. Christie has proposed cutting Medicaid eligibility to absurdly low levels: from the current maximum income of $24,645 to $5,317 a year for a family of three. Apparently, the governor believes a family of three making $6,000 a year is simply too rich to receive Medicaid.

The New Jersey press has reported that the main effect of his proposal would be to slash help for the working poor, tearing a huge hole in the state’s social safety net:Adults in a family of three that makes as little as $103 a week would earn too much to qualify for health care provided by Medicaid under a sharply curtailed program Gov. Chris Christie wants the federal government to approve this year, according to state officials and advocates briefed on the proposal.<...>

The Christie administration is expected to propose cutting the maximum income level of Medicaid from $24,645 to $5,317 a year for a family of three <...>

1. And the insanity continues
What these people are doing should be obvious, they want a two class system the rich and everyone else, the poor! They don't give a damn about anything but privatizing this country, cutting any benefits from those in need, and catering to the wealthy who give them money for win elections!

How anyone in their right mind can vote for these people is beyond me. They are destroying the middle class on a daily bases, and yet they still are able to brain wash their base into thinking they are "helping" them!

4. I think they really just want it to be them...hence the cutting medical
help to those who have less. A "modest proposal".

“If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn’t help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus is just as selfish as we are or we’ve got to acknowledge that he commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition. And then admit that we just don’t want to do it.”

3. Not so fast now...$5317.00 is more than plenty to live on and raise a family.
....if it were 1949.

Sometimes my Darker Half just wants to "Stop all the Talk"...grab these assholes by the neck and beat the shit out of them.
..but a clearer head and common dignity prevails...

7. There's a method to the madness, folks

This sort of thing is intended to drive these poor people away...force them out of state, and back into the "loving arms" of their extended family. People barely making it with a little aid, will be forced to leave & try somewhere else if there is no aid..

Musical chairs..poor folks edition.

To a hard-ass creep like him, poor people are not contributors. People like him see poor people as "needers", and every "needer" he can "get rid of", just means more money he has to play with:grr:
