If your last name was Weiner
wouldn't you change it? Honestly, I wouldn't even blink and change it as soon as possible. A lifetime of people calling you Mr. Weiner is not an enticing prospect!

I don't know but this whole thing could have been avoided by having a normal last name, but with a last name like that you are a neon target as a politician.

2. No, I wouldn't change the last name my father and grandfather had.
I wouldn't be ashamed over something so shallow and petty. You would seriously change your last name and dishonor your whole family over something so stupid?

6. I wouldn't blink
I would change my last name if it was Weiner, you bet.

I wouldn't think it dishonored my family either, "a rose by any other name" and all that.

3. I'd take my wife's name in a heartbeat.
Show my pro-feminst bona-fides every bit as much as marrying someone on Hillary's staff.

4. Some people are proud of their family names, even if awkward.
I used to know people whose last name was Fardi. They changed it when they had kids. Now, if my last name were Bush of Cheney, I'd change it in a hurry! ;-)

8. The correct pronunciation is "vye-nair", but most people wouldn't see it that way-
Therefore, YES -I would definitely change it.

11. I know a guy named Stanley Fuchs, and of course...
...the Hogg sisters are famous - Ima and Ura. In American Graffitti, the carhop was outside yelling "has anybody seen Mike Hunt".

I think Lance Boyle is unfortunate, but otherwise, I just don't think it's that big a deal.

thanks,

Buzz Hunter

19. Well, if it were pronounced CORRECTLY....
it would sound like "whiner". The sounds in both german and Yiddish call for the name to be pronounced "whiner".

Would that actually be any better?
