KS. Thirsty state officials will have to pay for their own water coolers
Thirsty state officials and lawmakers will have to start paying for their own water and water coolers at the state Capitol.

Because of the state's budget problems, on July 1, state officials will have to pay for their own water and water coolers. Previously, taxpayers had paid the bill.

The provision was added to the state budget during the last legislative session to offset a proposed budget cut to the Kansas Neurological Institute.

officials said the provision will save taxpayers about $100,000 per year. The Legislature alone gulps down $4,100 per year from the coolers.

2. actually, I thought it was nice that they were in the offices. When I take kids to page
they don't have to ask or drink out of fountains that are barely working

5. Yes, me too.
It is thirsty work dealing with our legislature. Thankfully, for us grown-ups, there are plenty of bars across the street!

6. nothing unusual about that
when i worked for the state, there was a group of folks in my section who pooled their money for bottled water. the state didn't pay a dime towards it. pretty much par for the course nowadays...

7. This is appropriate. The only water drinking setups our taxes should pay for
are public drinking fountains. The emphasis being on PUBLIC.
